Alice Howland, a 50 year old Harvard professor of psychology, scholar, wife and mother is troubled by her increasing forgetfulness. This is a beautifully written, compelling novel about early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Far from bleak, it depicts both the unalterable course of the disease and the various ways family members can cope with it, written within the context of an absorbing family drama.
